"Jack’s BackPack is a story about a boy who holds on to all his toys and continues to feel bored. The author, River Martin, takes the reader on a heartfelt adventure. When Jack meets animals along the way, he begins to see how his choice of viewing the world is holding him back from growing. The talking animals and beautiful illustrations encourage the reader to read more and more. As his adventure comes to an end, Jack realizes that holding on to physical items will not ensure his memory of every meaningful experience in his life. The memories are in his mind and his heart. Once he realizes this, he moves forward and cleans his world of excess physical items."
