Sara Westaway is professional artist, illustrator and author living and working in rural Dorset, UK. She divides her time between illustration commissions, large scale hospital decoration projects and producing her own beautifully illustrated Children’s Books. All of Sara’s work in inspired by nature and she explains her motivation for her new titles... “I began writing children’s books when my son started Primary School. He was a clever boy, but just couldn’t get the hang of reading. School was a nightmare for him, but he found solace and endless enjoyment from being outside, learning about animals and plants. I was determined to create books that embraced this natural interest in all things wild, whilst at the same time using these topics to help encourage early and reluctant readers. I am passionate about children enjoying the simple pleasures to be found just beyond the back door, and I hope that the books will spark an interest in reading and the natural world that will last a lifetime.
