"Be Mindful of Monsters is a great book to read with your children. The main character of the book is a boy named Ezzy. We follow him along as he moves through situations that cause him to have feelings such as worry, anger, fear, and sadness. The illustrations engage the reader and bring a visual to the feelings discussed in this book. Children face these feelings daily, and they often cannot find the words to express how they feel. They are left to bury negative emotions within themselves, and then negative actions can occur. Be Mindful of Monsters supports children and gives them a verbal and visual definition of worry, anger, fear, and sadness. This book also gives parents and children examples of ways children can “be mindful” of what they are feeling and “be in the moment.” There are tools provided in the book that teach children how to stop and recognize their emotions and how to comfort themselves. I recommend this book to parents, teachers, therapists, and psychologists." -School Psychologist
“I really liked “Be Mindful Monsters” because kids can really relate to Ezzy, I can too. I think this book not only has amazing pictures and a story line, but a real comforting vibe. Ezzy felt worried, angry, scared, happy, and clam, like a handful of feelings. He reached out to his mom and she helped him deal with his emotions. He learned that it is OK to feel different feelings and to accept them. Ezzy then learned, that you have to let them go like a breeze. I super loved your book.” 😊 -Child age 10
"Mindful Monsters Therapeutic Workbook is an exceptional book for families and schools. In this workbook, you will find fun and helpful activities such as a Tic Tac Toe feeling game, Feelings Wheel, Feelings Dice, Make a Monster Face, coloring pages, and more. Author, Lauren Stockley, provides families and schools guided lessons and activities that use therapeutic techniques focusing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). These lessons help children understand and work through the feelings of worry, sadness, anger, fear, and more. My children enjoyed the Feelings Dice and Make a Monster Face. Parents, teachers, therapists, psychologists, and children will enjoy the detailed lesson and activities in this workbook. The illustrations are enjoyable and engage children. Mindful Monsters Therapeutic Workbook is a great resource for families, schools, therapists, and psychologists."
