All Dogs Don’t Bite is author Marie Hernandez’s first book. The story, loosely based on events that happened in her own family, was not only an important one for her to share, but one in which she could give children specific tools that they could use to learn how to be safe around all animals, including those belonging to family and friends.
Marie is the mother of two grown children and Mimi to her two young grandsons. She was born, raised and still resides in southern New Jersey and loves spending time at the Jersey Shore. Marie spent six rewarding years as a Girl Scout Leader, as well as four amazing years as ‘band mom’ to her son’s ska band, lending the family basement for use as a practice space.
Happily, retired after working for more than two decades in Women’s Health, Marie enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, listening to 70’s music, traveling and of course walking her Rescue dog Tessa. She is a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Independent Author Network and Goodreads Author Program.
Marie was thrilled to work on her first book with illustrator Stephanie Weinger. Stephanie’s creativity, enthusiasm, and love of animals has helped bring this project to life.
Marie will be donating 15% of her book sales to One Love Animal Rescue of New Jersey, the organization from which both she and her son adopted their beloved dogs, Tessa, and Beatrice.
She is already thinking about her next project, hoping for release sometime in late 2022 or early 2023.
Stay tuned!

"All Dog’s Don’t Bite is a well-written book that educates children and adults on the mannerisms of dogs. During the story, a young boy named JT has an encounter with a new dog. Although he is a dog lover, his experience causes some distress. This experience changes his perspective on dogs. With the guidance of his family, JT grows to learn how to let dogs back into his life. Author Marie Hernandez’s book provides families with an educational tool that teaches children how to encounter dogs that they may not know.
The illustrations in this book allow the reader to feel the emotions of JT as he moves from his feelings of trust to distrust in animals. The expressions used on the characters in the story allow children to see the importance of following Pet Safety Tips when meeting new animals. The end of the story is heartfelt and ensures the reader that All Dog’s Don’t Bite. We love the Pet Safety Tips provided at the end of this book. Children will be sure to recall them when they meet a new dog. I highly recommend this book to families and schools. From personal experience, my five-year-old read this book and now always asks me if it is ok to pet a new dog she meets. Thank you, Marie Hernandez, for making a positive impact on her life😊we need more books like yours!" -School Psychologist
"I really like the book All Dog's Don't Bite! I liked how the boy has a dog. He meets a new dog and he get hurts. Then he gets a new little puppy. I think the new puppy helps him not be afraid of dog's anymore. My favorite parts are the pictures of the dogs." -Child age 5
