"The Tales of Milliken Mountain is an adventurous story of a family of mice living in Australia. Author Mike Mizzi provides the reader a descriptive narrative about the life of mice and the unique animals they encounter. In the beginning, the father shows the young mice how to hunt and gather their food. Children will enjoy listening to the young mice and their father's encounters with dangerous birds, snakes, a dragon, and a talking tree. The illustrations of the characters draw you into the story with their colors and charm.
With guidance from their father, the young mice learn to be brave and take care of themselves. The details of the forest in which they live bring imagery to how the land changed over time. In the end, the mice learn about who they are and their inner capabilities. Tales of Milliken Mountain is a great chapter book to read with your younger children and an excellent book for ages eight and up to read on their own!" -School Psychologist
"The Tales of Milliken Mountain is a fun chapter book to read. The chapters of this story are filled with adventure and excitement. The illustrations are very neat. I liked the expressions on the character's faces, and the pictures brought life to the story. My favorite part was the talking tree. She seemed to help the young mice and the dad mouse. When the dragon comes around the mice, it feels like something bad may happen, but there is an unexpected twist. This is a good book and easy to read." -Child age 10
